ISLAMABAD: In order to overcome energy crisis, Mian Manzoor Ahmad Wattoo, Federal Minister for Industries Production has directed Chairman State Engineering Corporation (SEC) to take initiative with regard to local manufacturing of windmill turbines in its unit Pakistan Machine Tool Factory, Karachi, for generating electricity.
USAID has already identified coastal areas of Sindh having substantial potential for wind energy.
He also encouraged the private sector entrepreneurs to extend financial and technical support to achieve the target, where possible.
International tenders were called through national and international press. Consequently proposals have been received from different firms. Ministry ofIndustries and Production is examining the technical and financial aspects of the project.
Minister for Industries and Production further reiterated that government is serious to promote low cost windmill power generation in the country. Underlining the importance of this project, he directed the concerned officers of the ministry to complete this task expeditiously
