With the recent meteoric rise of the Twilight Saga: New Moon, everyone wants to be part of the upcoming sequels, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. Unfortunately, there are plenty of not so good people looking to enjoy all these fans. In a series of emails sent, scammers are trying to trick people to register to fake casting calls.
Laura Veenker, who undertook the casting of the movie Twilight Northwest first knew immediately that the messages were fraudulent.
"First, I knew it was not credible because Breaking Dawn falls in production for several months, so no casting director who has been hired yet," she says. "In addition, the location shooting has not even been announced, how could anyone even know what city or country is quality?"
In the email, the scammers play the fans love the series and try to get to enter information about themselves. Here is a portion of the letter:
"I wanted to follow up and make sure you register to Dawn 'Breaking Dawn Casting'. If you have not yet asked the casting please do so as soon as possible as the deadline is approaching and I want to make sure they are included in the smelting process. "
According Veenker will know when casting calls because they will be legitimate in all the news. Meanwhile, be sure not to fall for the fakes.
"I have thousands of letters and emails from fans of 'Twilight', that would do anything for a walk-on part in one of the sequels," Veenker said. "It's scary to think about what low lifes out there could do harm to these easy targets."
