Finance Minister meets with IMF officials

The finance minister briefed the IMF officials regarding the economic situation in the country.

Finance Minister Dr Abdul Hafeez Sheikh held talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) officials and exchanged views regarding the two outstanding instalments of the stand-by programme which amount to US$ 3.3 billion.

Hafeez said that in the meeting with the IMF officials, views were exchanged on Pakistan’s macro economic situation, increase in exports, remittances and foreign exchange reserves.

He said that the government was pursuing economic reforms measures in order to be self-sufficient and to have an equitable tax system and improve service delivery to citizens.

The finance minister also briefed the IMF officials about the measures taken by the government to ensure financial stability and control the expenditure.
