Kamala Theatre : Injury in the heart Sabarimala is on the rise, despite improvements in health care facilities provided by the Ministry of Health as well as various private agencies such as the Kochi-based Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences, Coimbatore-based Appolo hospital at the center of pilgrims during the Mandalam – Makaravilakku festival.

A total of 20 pilgrims died due to heart disease and during the first 28 days of the current pilgrimage season. The number of deaths due to heart disease in Sabarimala during the same period in the previous year was only 17, according to official sources.

Could be that the lack of health awareness among the pilgrims could be attributed to the increase in the incidence of attacks in Sabarimala. It is noteworthy that cardiac care facilities in Sabarimala has improved with the Ministry of Health opened two centers for heart surgery in the modern and Appachimedu Neelimala one month ago.

This, along with state of the art health care facilities, with a mobile remote unit, medicine and placing it in the operating room, provided by the integrated management at its Ayyappa Medical Center in Pampa.

He said the volunteers turned Sanghom 38 heart disease patients because of Pampa Sannidhanam as in December 12.

Dr. Sukumaran, Head of General Medicine and Dr. George Koshy, heart disease at the Medical College Pushpagiri indicate that the pilgrims who over the age of 50 years, as well as patients under the medication may be subject to a medical examination before embarking on the pilgrimage.

According to them, and should adopt the method of pilgrims climbing slowly with relaxation at regular intervals at different points in order to avoid complications.

Dr. Rao, and mountain climbing on an empty stomach is recommended to each pilgrim. Those who are under regular treatment for high blood pressure, diabetes and so forth, and should continue to be drugs.
